Microsoft is looking for a passionate Data Scientist II to join its Microsoft Search team, which powers intelligent search and Copilot experiences for enterprise users across the globe. This is an exciting opportunity for Machine Learning enthusiasts who love solving real-world problems and creating systems that impact millions of users.

What You’ll Work On:

• Building the next generation Machine Learning systems for search relevance and personalization.
• Applying cutting-edge techniques like LLM applications, ranking models, recommendation systems, clustering, and state-of-the-art encoding/decoding architectures.
• Designing compliance and privacy-aware ML training pipelines that scale.
• Experimenting with innovative approaches for text/passage extraction and understanding.

Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field OR
• Master’s Degree in the above fields 3+ years of experience in data science OR
• Bachelor’s Degree in the above fields 5+ years of experience in data science OR
• Equivalent hands-on industry experience

Work Experience & Skills:

• At least 1 year of customer-facing, project-delivery, professional services, or consulting experience.
• Experience in implementing and shipping production-ready ML models or pipelines.
• Strong understanding of structured and unstructured data handling.
• Prior work or research experience in search domain is a plus.
• Security screening clearance (Microsoft Cloud Background Check) is mandatory.

Preferred:

• 2+ years of industry experience in data science, ML, or software engineering.
• Exposure to search ranking, personalization, and LLM-based problem-solving.
